Mordern kimono

Fukura suzume for nagoya obi

First kitsuke cours
I began 4 years ago my kimono trip and my studie of kitsuke. It's only now I get my first true kitsuke lesson. What a joy to see the kistuke basic rules with someone who know the thing.

Birthday in ryokan

Go fuku no hi
Every year may 29th is kimono day. Like may 4th is star wars day, it's a japanese word joke. 29 is fuku and 5 go. So may 29th is gofuku which is an other word for kimono.
You can see all the participant on the facebook event.
I played the game and found 5 minutes to get dress.

Chado Initiation Kitsuke
The 25th April I'll go to a chado or tea ceremony initiation. I'm very impatiente to go. I wanted for long time to take chado lesson. And of course this will be a good occasion to wear a kimono.
Usually for tea ceremony, you are supposed to wear an iromuji and stay sober. I have only one kimono like that. It's pink and I always had some trouble to paired it with a good nagoya. Then I did some try.
This set of color is my favorite. But it's a bit to flashy for chado.

Orange and Manequin
Being forced to not moved a lot for some time, I ask my mannequin for some help and try this idea I had in mind since this kimono arrived home.

Kitsuke Forbidden
Following a so stressfull false start, I have to stay calme, not moving to much for around one month. So no kitsuke for me until our little one arrived.
Nevertheless I would like to show you my last creation and buy.

Good news, I'm still alive !
There is a long time I didn't came on this blog. I was very busy and I get some little trouble. The summer heat, my vacation, a move and a little one who will expend the family in march, disturbed me a lot from my kimonos.
Now it get better, so I think I will start again to play with kitsuke, if my belly size don't bother me to much.

Fake Collar in all color
I did some sewing those days. I recreate a fake collar base on the one I bought few month ago on rakuten and I copied the structure adding just some color.

The box of doom
Few week ago I received as a gift a box containing ten kistuke stuff. I would like to present them to you today sorted by preference.
The majority are none lined kimono, a bit short but wearable. I will try. This one is my least favorite, i don't like the motif and I will have to repair the bottom which is unstitch.

Back to kistuke
Enfin j'ai peu me remettre en kimono ce week end. Cela faisait bien longtemps.
Finally, I manage to put a kimono this week end. It was a long time since since the last time. I wanted to use one of the obi I show you last week. I combine it with my pink iromuji.

Some shopping
I talked, last week, about my trip in japan, today I show you what I brought back in my luggage.
I first bought 2 nagoya obi, for 500 Yens each I didn't hesitated too long. I have nothing to go with but those color look easy to wear.

In this second part of my lexique I will speak about obis. It's a importante element maybe more than a kimono, because a beautifull obi can make a kimono prettier than it is.
Obi (帯)
Mean belt. It's a long band of fabrics which close the kimono. It existe severale size and kind of fabrics and also several way to tie it.
Obi makura (帯枕)
Means literary "pillow belt".
It's a little pillow not so soft with two string, which is put horizontaly on the back to create obi knot. It can be attach in the front and the string hide under the obi. It existe larger pillow for more complicate knot like maiko's obi knot.
